Juana Tejada Lounge

The Juana Tejada Lounge is a drop-in center named after the late Filipina who courageously fought to reform the Live-In Caregiver Program (LCP).

It opened its door to serve as a gathering place for all caregivers in and around the GTA.  The facility is operated by the Catholic Church-based outreach organization Grassroots Hub (G-Hub) free of charge.   The G-Hub, a component of the social ministry of the AFCM, was created specifically to support and advocate for caregivers and other migrant workers.

It is  located at the northern wing of the Our Lady of Assumption and it provides six Internet-connected computers, and a television with local cable service as well as Filipino entertainment channels.

A friendly place, where caregivers can simply spend their leisure time, and meet with fellow caregivers especially, those who are verynew to Canada and do not have families or relatives.

The lounge is open during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. There will be a staff from the church and the Grassroots Hub to assist lounge visitors.

Caregivers are also encouraged to volunteer at the centre.

Those interested in helping and availing of the Lounge’s services and facilities may contact the Our Lady of Assumption Parish at             (416) 787-5457 .
